§ 82-1. Definitions.

  • The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this chapter, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

    Garbage means solid waste that is putrescible animal or vegetable waste material and refuse and other deleterious substances from kitchens, residences, canning and processing plants, grocery stores, drugstores, butcher shops, restaurants, cafes, hotels, roominghouses and boardinghouses and any and all other establishments.

    Recyclables means solid waste material, such as soft plastic bottles, steel and aluminum cans, clear and brown glass, which are able to be recycled.

    Rubbish means nonputrescible solid waste material excluding ashes, rags, rubber, pieces of wood, scraps of iron, tin, wire or other metals, etc.

    Trash means solid waste material, such as wastepaper of all kinds, boxes, barrels, crates, grass, weeds, shrubs, yard cleanings, grass clippings, leaves, tree trimmings and sweepings from sidewalks.
