§ 2-135. Purposes of board.

  • The arts advisory board shall make recommendations to the city manager and city council regarding policy matters pertaining to the artistic activities of the city. The board shall have the following specific purposes:

    (1)

    Confer with and advise the city manager and city council on all matters concerning arts and culture in the city;

    (2)

    Encourage, promote, and improve the arts, including music, dance, drama, folk art, creative writing, architecture, design and allied fields, painting, sculpture, photography, graphic arts, motion pictures, television, radio, tape and sound recording, and the arts related to the presentation, performance, execution, and exhibition of these major art forms;

    (3)

    Review and recommend to the city manager and city council applications for funds for the encouragement, promotion and improvement of the arts;

    (4)

    Recommend funding programs for the encouragement, promotion and improvement of the arts;

    (5)

    Cooperate with all community groups which are dedicated to the purposes set forth in this document.
