§ 2-62. Powers and duties.

  • (a)

    In the absence or disability of the city secretary, the assistant city secretary shall have the power and duty to execute all documents required by any law or ordinance to be executed by the city secretary and shall affix the seal of the city thereto whenever required. In the absence or disability of the city secretary, the assistant city secretary shall have all of the authority, power, duties and responsibilities prescribed by the Charter and all laws or ordinances specifying the authority, power, duties and responsibilities of the city secretary. The exercise of the powers and duties of the city secretary by the assistant city secretary shall be subject to the specified limitations and conditions set forth in subsection (b) of this section.

    (b)

    The powers and duties of the city secretary shall be exercised by such assistant city secretary only in the absence of the city secretary from the office in city hall, and when the city secretary is or will be temporarily or permanently incapacitated or temporarily or permanently absent from the office and cannot or does not for any reason perform such functions of the office.
