§ 16.11. Overhanging or protruding projections.

  • Every part of a required yard or court shall [be] open from its lowest point to the sky, unobstructed, except for the customary projection of sills, belt courses, cornices, ornamental features, and eaves; provided, however, that none of the above projections shall extend over any public right-of-way. Open or enclosed fire escapes, outside stairways, balconies, chimneys, flues or other projections shall not extend into any required yard except that open fire escapes may project not more than three feet into any required yard.
